Among the issues covered are Derrida's interpretation of "Destruktion" in Heidegger, Derrida's attack on logocentrism in Heidegger's interpreattion of Nietzsche, and the relation of Heidegger, hermeneutics, and deconstruction to dialectic.

I have always been an avid reader and very seldom bother to rate a book I have read, as most of them are just so so and not worth my time and energy to write anything about them. I feel compelled to rate (AND RAVE!) about this book. I just wish I could give it more than five stars. Lisa Genova has been my favorite author ever since I came across her first book, "Still Alice". I have read every other book she has written, and just finished her latest, "Every Note Played". Not only is Dr. Genova a world famous doctor specializing in diseases and disorders of the brain, she is the best writer I have ever come across in over 60 years of reading. She does not just describe her characters. She has the incredible ability to actually take the reader into the very body, heart, soul and mind of her main characters. She gives the reader a clear concise look into what daily life is like for someone dealing with a horrific disease, as well as the roller coaster of emotions that the family and loved ones go through. I cannot recommend this author highly enough. One of my main fears is that some day she will stop writing, and I HOPE HOPE HOPE that never happens. I look forward to each book, and hope I can continue to do so for years to come.

Brief summary and review, no spoilers.This story is about a world-renowned pianist named Richard Evans who develops ALS in the prime of his career. He had been married to his equally talented pianist wife Karina, but they had divorced years earlier due to Richard’s infidelities and other issues we learn about later on. He and Karina also had a daughter together; a girl named Grace who is currently away at college.Karina was born in Poland but immigrated to the United States and married Richard. Richard had grown up in the United States but had a difficult childhood gaining his father’s approval. Karina is a gifted pianist, but she gave up her dream of being a jazz pianist both to raise their daughter Grace and to accommodate Richard and his career.Early on, we know that Karina and Richard are divorced and that this divorce was acrimonious. At the very start, we meet Richard as he is starting to notice a weakness to his precious fingers, and he is soon diagnosed with ALS.As the story proceeds, we witness Richard’s physical deterioration from this devastating disease. We also see how he reunites with Karina and his daughter and what insights all three learn during this emotional and tragic time.If you’ve never read Lisa Genova, you’re in for a treat. In each book always tackles some medical calamity and is able to make the reader understand it and feel empathy for its sufferer. Still Alice, which was made into a movie was one of my favorite books that dealt with Alzheimer’s.This is the third book of her’s I’ve read and I have enjoyed them all. Ms. Genova is a neuroscientist and she is able to combine her medical knowlege with quality writing - not easy to do.This iis probably one of the best books about ALS I have ever read. As usual and as expected, the author really shines when she gets into the nitty-gritty about the effects of this disease on both the patient and on the family. ALS is truly one of the worst diseases you can get, and when you finish you will understand that.So why 4 stars instead of 5? It’s because the only problem I have with her novels is that as much as she excels with the illness narrations, the rest - dealing with the family issues - just don’t work as well. I’m not sure I bought into those parts as being as three - dimensional as the ALS portions.Still, her books are always page-turners and I do recommend this.

I really liked Every Note Played by Lisa Genova. I had read Still Alice by L Genova and enjoyed that book. Genova did an excellent job of writing this book, so you felt like you were experiencing this yourself - particularly as the wife. Her descriptions were very realistic. I liked the title as it says a lot.It was a sad book because there were things that Richard wanted and needed to stay, but he was either scared or stubborn or unsure as to how to approach the person. One of the take aways from the book, is to not let things go too long. If something needs to be addressed, address it.The ending was very good.I appreciated Genova's 'Lisa's Call To Action' and her Acknowledgements. Reading those two chapters was as touching as the book.I highly recommend Every Note Played to readers who like: well written and researched fiction books, books with great endings and books that call for action.

About the Author Jack Pransky, Ph.D. is the founder/director of the Northeast Health Realization Institute. He authored the books, Prevention from the Inside-Out (2003); Prevention: The Critical Need (2001/1991); Parenting from the Heart (2000/1997); Modello: A Story of Hope for the Inner City and Beyond (1998); and co-authored Healthy Thinking/Feeling/Doing from the Inside-Out Prevention Curriculum for Middle School Students (2000). Consider this a review of the entire series, not just this book.The story here is great. It's engaging, entertaining and sometimes shocking. However, there are some problems. In the first few books, it's like reading an outdoors catalog. Nothing is just a hatchet or a water bottle, it's a Gerber hatchet and a Platypus water bottle. He drops brand names like he's paid for product placement. This stops in later books, thankfully.Throughout the entire thing there are numerous spelling, punctuation and grammar issues. In the last book there is a foreword explaining that these issues have been handled and this book will be a smooth read. That isn't the case.The characters are pretty two dimensional, with not much development. There are a few exceptions, but by and large, there isn't much character development.This should be a terrible series of books. The problems listed are usually enough for me to give up halfway through and look for something better, but the story line kept me going, and I'm glad it did. If you've read my review of book one you can skip ahead because I don't really have anything new to say, just want the author to have some honest reviews in return for his hard work putting pen to paper.I read a lot of post-apocalypse fiction. Most writers suck at it. Their scenarios are rather far fetched, their characters are cookie cutter preppers I could never relate to if we were face to face, and the decisions their characters make are so stupid as to put them in deeper jeopardy making their professed prepper status highly questionable and making me hope Darwin got it right so I'll never have to deal with them.A.A.'s characters are well developed, thinking people, even the bad guys. They behave in ways that are true to their back story. Yes, they make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes have unpleasant consequences.As of today, there are maybe 10 or more books in the series. They enter my library as soon as they are released and that's unusual for me because my experience is that when an author pens a series beyond a certain number of books, they seem to reach a point where they're either phoning it in to continue milking the cash cow, or they get so tired of the characters and storyline that they begin to hate what they perceive as a rut. Neither pitfall traps this series.The story arc is such that the plot could run on for another 10 books or more provided the author continues to keep events believable. The characters are not one-note survivalists. They continue to mature and evolve as events unfold.The author isn't afraid to kill off a key character or two and new characters are fleshed out just as well as the ones that survive through everything.In spite of the seriousness of the subject, the author isn't afraid of some comic relief and there are genuine belly laughs spread throughout the series.So far, I've only been mildly disappointed with one book in the series and I believe that's because Weatherman bowed to fan pressure and turned a book out before he should have. If you pick up this series, you'll know which one I'm referring to and I'm sure he does too. When a writer is as social media connected to their fan base as he is, and that base is screaming for the next book, that's hard to ignore but easy to forgive.I hope one day to write this well and have my fans clamoring for the next book.

Absolutely fascinating reading. I read everything A. American writes. I do this because his characters literally jump from the page, and you instantly care for them like family. Also, because it COULD happen. There are great hints and tips on survival (I've actually started purchasing a few things like water filter straws and snap lights, just in case). And, I've always been a food hoard fool. Not to mention I'm a southerner who likes guns and is proficient in their use. As someone once said "First they take your guns"! Don't get the idea I read these wonderful books and intend to start a war! I'm a 70 year old female who loves fiction that MIGHT not be fiction.

I read books 1, 2, 3, and 5 one after the other, semi-ignoring life going on around me over about 7 days.However I am a very fast reader. I skipped very little.In my opinion, these stories could be told as a television series.The most important aspects of these books deals with the loss of just in time food delivery.As a resteraunt owner, for me to earn an income, I need, just in time food delivery.We take the food that we've ordered the night before for granted. As we have for 30 years.Our resteraunt does not do frozen (except for Shrimp).All the United States of America could fall with the simple collapse of of our just in time food delivery.I give A.American kudos for refraining from mentioning who brings America to it's knees.Or, most likely, there are too many to name, that want to bring us to our knees.A.American's stories in his books, give us a realistic glimpse into how things would unfold when people have no food or water in a community away from the cities.Trying to write a book about the loss of food, sewage, water, law enforcement and martial law in a city would be heartbreaking.I recommend reading this series. You will learn a lot.You just may learn things that will save you and you're loved ones life.
